Birthday Talk

Officially it's MONDAY already as I'm typing this

but earlier today we celebrated my 29th BIRTHDAY!

29?!? FOR REALS?!? :(

I have to say that this is one of the most low key birthdays

I've had in a LONG LONG time & it was GREAT!

I went to church this morning

(Me & my cousin Abigail waiting in front of the tree outside church

we ALWAYS wait for our family to re-group by this tree)

& I went out to lunch w/ my mom,

cousin,god father & grandma

 *my dad is out of town this weekend

It was his birthday also the 22nd :(

We ate @ Bob Chinns

I ordered the King Crab Tacos

(it came w/ 2 tacos & I ordered 1 steamed & 1 fried)

This meal was only $19.99 & it also came with a bowl of soup

I ordered the GUMBO (which is one of my faves)

a 16 oz Mai Tai a specialty drink @ Bob Chinns!

and dessert (Flan) Freaking DEAL!!!!

& they sang me Happy Birthday & brought me a pumpkin pie

After lunch I walked next door to

SUPERDAWGS

I couldn't resist! I picked up a hotdawg for dinner :)

On the way home my grandmother wanted to stop by ROSS

they opened a TON of stores in IL FINALLY!

I always go to ROSS whenever I go to CA or TX

I'm sooooo happy there's finally one 6 min from my house :)

BOY am I glad we stopped by look at what I found

Crafty related: SUPER CUTE KI puffies 3 in each set

only $2.99! They we're $3.98 @ J's for just 1!

and I also got these:

It was the LAST 2 Color Club Nail Polish sets!

Back to BOHOis CC's Fall 2011 release (normally $48)

I got the WHOLE SET for $7.99!!!! freaking deal!!!!

I also bought Foiled cuz I think it'll work well with the stamping plates

Speaking of nail stuff...It's also Mani Monday!!!

I wanted to share my birthday mani :)

I went with a PINK monochromatic theme

Who LOVES Ice Cream?

I  L O V E Ice Cream!

I like to provide an all day sugar high at my crops

hahahahaha

sooooo for dessert after dinner

I set up an ice cream buffet :)

 
I bought the little dessert spoons @ GFS

$3.49 for 100

The little bowls are from Silver Spoons and More

They have them at Party stores it's a little sturdier than regular plastic bowls.

I would have LOVED to create a beautiful ice cream buffet similar to

eat drink chic DIY buffet

I tried, BUT the closest I got to it is by printing her free pdf templates

{which BTW are sooo wonderful!!!!}

Almonds Crushed Candy Cane Joe Joe's from Trader Joes 

Pink Candy Sprinkles from William Sonoma

Crushed oreos, Maraschino cherries, fudge & whipped cream from your local grocery store

This pretty big pink tub from Hobby Lobby it also comes in baby pink.

I put ice at the bottom which held the Ice Cream {Vanilla from Costco}

That's about it for my Ice cream buffet

The Decor {Part 2}

 The little things....

I made little cupcake and cotton candy toppers

using this cute 2 x 2 pinwheel quickutz die cut

its also available for your revolution if you want a larger one

 
I also made some of the toppers using fabric tape from  love my tapes

 

this is the "dessert" table

Back to the Candy bar...

The boxes for the cotton candy are made with the

Tags Bags, Boxes & more cricut cart

I ordered most of the candy through OhNuts.com

I REALLY like their search by COLOR option & also the quantity you can order

its by pound not by 10 pounds lol

the shipping was also very quick & the products were fresh & they came in a resealable bag

 
For the drinks I found these really cute cups at target

 
that were different shades of PINK!

(although they look more purple in the pic)

I also made chalkboard labels for the cups to be reusable

(The labels will be available though the ivyPINK etsy shop in the future)

I LOVE this chalk ink markers

 its seriously 100 times better than regular chalk but just as easy to use :)

Of course I also made custom wraps for the water bottles

I used the Hero Arts Hello flags again

 
I stamped them on 5 different sheets of paper...

cut them out and stitched the top edge

The "Happy birthday" ribbon is by American Crafts

For the water bottle lids I used paper source blossom labels

stamped the #28 I did use a 1 inch punch though to fit the lids.

 I guess i didn't really take detailed pictures of the banners hanging...

but you get the idea :)

 

and I thinks that's it for the decor :)

HAPPY F R I D A Y!!!!

The Decor {Part 1}

Where do I even really begin with the decor?

I wanted to create a PINK frilly-fun auora

 That started with this flower ball...

 
I saw this on flickr a while ago but kept it in my inspiration folder...

 

I decided to recreate it by die cutting tissue paper with this nestabilities die

I'm very pleased with how it turned out, 

I wanted to make 3 of these but it took me a little longer than I expected

because the ball I used was pretty large

Next time I'll make it with a smaller ball :)

Instead I made tissue flower balls

MS was my total inspiration with this project lol

 

 
 I should've remembered to take pics

so that I couldve made a step by step "how to" tutorial

BUT I didnt have a whole lot of time

so I found one for you at the Happy Together Blog :)

I really wanted flowers at the party this year

I was going to buy fresh ones & my fave flowers are peonies

BUT they are out of season.....soooo

I decided to just make tissue paper flowers instead lol.

The Invite

Lets start with the invites shall we?

Isn't that what sets the vibe for a party any how?

My invites certainly took me a while to make

I thought it would be SOOO easy when I finally came up

with the concept...I thought I could just whip it out with the cricut

BUT it wasn't so easy....

First off my cricut did not cut the paper in even sizes

 & I was going to end up wasting a LOT of paper

wasting paper=NO good!

 Second, I wanted to use this roses snow & graham wrap somehow.

The wrap is 20 x 30 in size

So I had to come up with another plan to cut my penants

Thats when I pulled out my trusty exacto & I started measuring & cutting away

after days of measuring & cutting 

my pile of lovely patterned paper penants stacked up

after I punched the holes on each side

and tied them together....

(I had my mom help me with the tying part)

Here's how the front of the invites looks like

 and when you open the invite....

VOILA!

 
It took a while to tie all the bows...but it got easier after a lil while

I really loved how it turned out

I used this Hero Arts Hello Flags stamp to accent the envelopes

I used Vellum envelopes because I wanted the front part of the invite to be seen

I used a variety of these banner Jenni Bowlin stickers

for the "TO" in the center banner

I also made matching craft colored address labels  

That about wraps up the Invites :)

The penant flag theme continues throughout the party
