SNOW. YUP I came back from Miami Sunday night. On my way to work this morning it started snowing.
What a WELCOME. Our friends from Miami asked while I was there how the weather was in Chicago and I answered sarcastically "it was great when I left im sure it'll snow again soon" UMMMM I think I jinxed myself. LOL. Lots of catching up to do. Miami was definitely a party town. The nightlife didn't end. I went on a few adventures...took a tour around Star Island. I had a soft shell crab po boy sandwhich. Went to the FUNNEST  place with the BEST drinks ever!!! Met some Domino professionals @ Little Havana :) Laid around the beach lazily and got way too dark.
Definitely one of the best vacations EVER.

So now back to REALITY...My friend Jonnie asked me to make a card for her moms birthday tomorrow so here it is a quick rub on card:

Travel

I'm not sure if I mentioned that I'm leaving for Miami this Thursday and I CANNOT wait :)
I work 9-8 Mon. Tues. Wed. this week then I'm Off. heehee
I'm a light packer & I try to carry the VERY least possible.
Look at my abused Pink luggage...
I think it's time for a new one.

I got that brocade make up case from the Philippines.
It was one of the favorite purchases I made there.

So my flight leaves at 7:00 am from MIDWAY!
I'm NOT looking forward to waking up at 4:30 am
I'm NOT a morning person at ALL.
But that's OK.

Speaking of TRAVELS...

I wanted to share a mini TRAVEL album I made a while back.
I was thinking I would be able to add more pages as I go but its pretty chunky.
I'll just have to make a second edition. LOL

*SSS:Sharing Storage Solutions*

I'm sure like MOST scrappers you bought products with good intentions...then we put em away and we forget ALL about them. I use to be that NOTORIOUS scrapper that held on to all my new goodies...saving it for that "perfect page" that I never seemed to get around to making....
Yeah my mentally totally changed. NOW all the new goodies is the FIRST thing I use.
BUT of course I still have some oldies but goodies that I JUST cannot get rid of.
So I'm sharing some of my newer STORAGE SOLUTIONS to help me use UP some of this stuff.
I've realized that the more I keep things out of sight they've also become out of mind...
So heres a few of my solutions
Random Flowers:
I had tons of opened FLOWER packages some with only ONE flower in it...
It got so frustrating because when I needed a flower I searched through a whole drawer full of opened and unopened flower packages. So now I store it in this BURKEN jar from IKEA.

I know you guys know I am a BLING girl. I can't have enough of 'em. I call this my BLING BOX because I keep all of my BLING in this "Lookers Box" by Design Ideas. It's clear and easy to see where everything is and It holds a LOT.
We use these boxes at the Paper Source and thats where I got the idea from.

Next Up, I finally bought all my Jars for the clothespins ribbon. It looks so YUMMY in the Jars. :) Makes me HAPPY. I got the penny jars from Anchor Hocking. The PINK jar is almost filled...{YIKES}.

 

Last week I went to Michaels and found these Martha Stewart Collectors Box on SALE for $7.00
Immediately I didn't think to use them to store pictures BUT to use for my PINS...
I love how it's PINK & Brown too :)

I took my Prisma Pencils out of the box it came in to store it in this PINK Polka Dot bucket I got on clearance at TARGET for $.25 such a deal.

Lastly my Mini Inks storage.
I recently just organized them by color but I use them so much they get messed up again.
I got this 4 tier Ink holder from Dave @ Stampology he ordered it from Clearsnap.
(Along with all the Inks) :)
Speaking of Clearsnap they have this new product out called Memory Essentials Terrific tool 
It really is TERRIFIC! :)
The foam is a little harder than other foam stamps which is why it makes it stamp so well.
I made this quick matchbook card with it also:

some sewing

I FINALLY brought my JANOME back to the store to complain that it only sews backwards.
{thats why i haven't used it since I got it}
The lady was so SURPRISED! she tested 3 others before finding one that works!
SO....I played a little bit with it after watching IDOL tonight.
{I LOVED David Cook's performance}
I'm not a FAN of his BUT tonight was definitely a good performance.
I tried to find a youtube video but nothing was up yet :(

I made a LO and a card....
Now don't laugh OK... It looks like a 3rd grader did the sewing...LOL
*BUT it was totally the "look" I was going for...*hahahhahah*

This is my FAVORITE picture of the cousins. It was the last pic we all took together as a group. All 5 of us haven't seen each other all at once since then. Good Memories left behind in Puerto Vallarta. :)

I do have to say that the Janome is my current favorite toy though. :)
I love how light weight it is!

Also today I FINALLY got my Kit of the MONTH.
I was so jealous that Candi got hers like 2 days ago and I was literally googling the Cust service number for it when Dar our receptionist called me up for the package at work! Yahooooooo.....

Can't wait to play with those goodies!

and I also got this Beauty today.
I pretty much LUG a luggage around on the DAILY.
for such a little person my purses are usually 1/2 my size. this is one is NO different. Just prettier than my usual BLACK ensembles. heehee

Good Stuff

Finally...a SUNDAY off.
I haven't had a day off for 13 straight days.
I was so exhausted.
I got lots of things accomplished today...
I made a new banner...{heehee}
I wish I knew how to do it digitally but I'm computer challenged
I was lucky to even figure out how to work this BLOG.LOL
I also went to my grandmas sisters 70th B-Day.
Since American Airlines is having this huge debacle my aunt from Texas was not able to make it in and she was the one who was throwing the party! :(

I also went to dinner with my friend Katrina for some sushi @ Sushi Bar in Bloomingdale. It's my favorite sushi place near home :) They have a lot of house specials.

Here's a LO I made:
I pleated the backside of the Saffron paper and I used a LOT of BLING.
Can't go wrong with Bling.
I also love the little labels we got in the kit from Tattered Tags

Also...I was inspired to make this ATC card by Jason Castro's performance from American Idol...I've LOVED this song (Over the Rainbow) from the very beginning BUT I loved how he added his own little touch to it.

Anyway here's the ATC:

The Acetate is from the Scarlet Limes April stamp I was about to toss it, and I was like... wait a minute... This is the prefect ATC size... so I used some of the left over paper from the back side of the grid paper called Frenzy Glee. and I colored the acetate with Copics and wrote over it with a slick writer.

Hello Papertrey

I think I LOVE YOU!

SO I finally ordered from Papertrey
I got all my goodies today
So awesome!
I absolutely LOVE everything!!!!
The cardstock is really good quality
and the ribbons are fantastic.
Im pretty much a "matchy-matchy" girl
and I think thats what I love MOST about the Papertrey line.
EVERYTHING matches...the ribbons the ink the paper
and NOT to mention the ooober super cute stamps!
*sigh*

So...it's the beginning of start week at the Academy (I work at IADT Schaumburg) and it's been so crazy!
Thats why I haven't been able to post.
BUT I did make a couple cards tonight to share with you :)

I've been trying to use my "OLD" stuff
and SERIOUSLY this papers pretty old. I still love it though. It's from Close to my Heart. The stamp is NEW though from Paper-Source. I'm also lovin the "SLIM" sized card.

SUPER-di-dooper excited that  Hero Arts started a  BLOG! and last week Jennifer
did the first challenge you had to make something using a "CLEAR ELEMENT".

I'm so glad they extended the deadline its till Wednesday!!!
(in case you guys want to join, its not too late...)

My "clear"card:

It might be a little hard to tell... theres a 3 x 3 card mounted on the acetate and the "thanks so much" is stamped on the acetate.
I used a PS scallop flat card and cut the center out and adhered the acetate with the fabric tape.
I also got the Swiss Dots cuttlebug folder that Jen sent me this week (thanks Jen)
and I embossed the 3 x 3 card.

Anyway, new challenge is UP on the hero arts BLOG go check it out!

Class

A really quick post I had the LONGEST day ever.
It was good busy tough.
I had orientation at the academy today and my students needed to do a lot of tying up lose ends kinda stuff.
Anywayz...
just wanted to share that theres still room in the

Happy April Fools!

I started to Label my Best Scrapbook Shelf drawers with these Paper Patisserie Labels.
They are so cute and it totally helped me to separate the drawers by color.
You can see how the first 4 (well pictured only 3)
are all "FLOWERS" Small, 2 Medium, and Large and the Label is all PINK.
Then its Birthday and there's 2 green labels. One of the drawers are all BIRTHDAY images and the other is BIRTHDAY greetings.
There's only one Thank You drawer therefore there's only one orange label.
ANYWAY, this method helps me visually see if I was looking for flowers I know I have 4 Drawers to look through.

So, After labeling I had the left over sheet from the labels and I was inspired to create this for my ATC holder:

I just took a bunch of scraps I had and placed it underneath the openings and I came across some eyelets while cleaning this weekend so i decided to put those to good use as well. :)

It's my "APRIL FOOLS" ATC card {heehee}

I also used some of these 7 Gypsies Label stickers.

I've also decided I have to get back to practicing my Calligraphy again.
It's really hard to start and stop because it's hard to get use to writing that way all over again. I took a class from my friend Connie who owns Articulations Events here in Chicago. You can view some of her writing samples through her site.

I have a picture of my writing sheet below. We bought our supplies from Johhnealbooks.com they have a basic starter kit with the Eleanor Winters Mastering Copperplate book it's totally worth it!
Connie swears by the Hunt Oblique Holder it's cheap and it works the best. I use a couple different Nib sizes. The ones that come in the kit is great. The Windsor & Newton brand of ink from Dick BLICK is also a good kind of ink and the color stays VIBRANT.

My boss let me borrow The SECRET
on CD. I was listening to it while making my ATC card & it was a really good thought to always think POSITIVELY. They said to make sure to think of POSITIVE thoughts before you go to bed. Good night!
