WOWZERS this year REALLY went by SUPER fast!
Where do I even begin?
I started the Calendar series which was super fun
thinking of new themes each month &
using up oldies but goodies supplies
Besides the Chicago SNOWMAGEDON
I really hope we do NOT have another one of these this year
or if we do, crossing my fingers that I wont be in IL to see it LOL
Made these cute V-day treats & I'm regretting I didn't
stock up & buy more plastic hearts they were so cute!
Besides my new "trendy" haircut
(the bangs didn't last too long)
I was just busy creating samples for the shop
2 girls weekends what could be better?

Ahhh, May :) Start of my Mission Vacation lol
But before that my one HUGE May highlight was getting to go
to the FINAL taping of the Oprah show
definitely one of the MOST memorable things I've ever done!
Then I got to end the month by heading off to Ft. Lauderdale
for a couple days before sailing away on the Oasis of the Seas
to Nassau, St. Maarten & St. Thomas
Well.....this might be the only creative project I made the whole
month of June
Cuz I was pretty much in CA the whole month
CA is really one of my favorite places to be
I cant wait to go there again this year :)
HOLY MOLY in prep for Creative Escape
I made all my SWAP stuff in a matter of a week
crazyness
Because I was leaving for Canada

I went on the BEST CREATIVE trip ever
with my cousin Rosa :)

Phew FINALLY the 1st full month I was home

Also this month was like "reading month"
I read like 10 books I was @ the Library multiple times a week :)
& this was my FAVE project of the month
MY FAVORITE month :)
I turned 29 (bleh)
I also made my 1st Youtube videoI guess that's a highlight lol
wow...looking back I posted a lot of "HAULS"
I guess I went shopping a lot in Nov. heehee
my project highlight would have to be learning
how to make a paper turkey & "miniaturizing" it for Abbey
So this is 4sure a highlight
& attempting this December Daily challenge
is also another
WHICH BTW I just have to add some pics & I have a few pages left
& I only went up to Day 25 instead of the 31
I know this is def one of those albums I'll always treasure :)
& that folks sums up my 2011
This is one of my FAVORITE years by far
I feel so blessed & I'm so thankful for the support that
my Family & Friends has given me

I just wanted to share some ivyPINK shop news
Over the summer I was asked by one of the editors
of MS Weddings if they can feature one of my products
for their winter issue....UMM of course I said YES!
They chose.....

It's a DIY article on how to make your own envelopes
& how to spruce them up FUN!
It's always exciting to see an item you create in print :)
I have to say that this label is one of the
best sellers I carry in my shop
It's also available in custom quantities
and in Kraft color.

So....... we didn't get any snow at all for christmas this year :(
(I'm not really complaining)
BUT it is pretty weird for a "Chicago" christmas not to have any snow
I dont even remember the last time we didnt have snow on christmas :)
So todays mani monday
still looks holiday ish.....but its suppose to be reminiscent of snow
This red base is one my favorite reds ever it's OPI
An Affair in red square it's a metallic red
I did apply a layer of Gettin' Miss Piggy with it
BUT I didn't feel like it was enough "snow"
so I applied more Chunky silver glitter by Kleancolor
The tree is painted with Trixie by Zoya
(which BTW is a def must have!!!)
It's the most perfect opaque metallic silver polish ever :)
I saw this tutorial by Nailside
and decided to try it because I've never tried to do a design
using tape before (I just used a lil bit of washi tape)
Here is how it looked like before I polished it with trixie
The taping part was surprisingly easy actually :)
I'm definitely going to have to try some other nail designs using tape.

GAH!!! so seriously....
this is one of my FAVE manis E V E R!
It's just so cute :)
I used the holly in the bundle monster BM14 plate
These are the polishes I used
For the base I used my FAVE Zoya Jules polish
Then I applied a coat of the Essie Luxeffects in As gold as it gets
I used Ulta Envy for the leaves
and dotted the berries & background with Sally hansen
Nail pen which is AMAZING btw! Its got a little shimmer
& I LOVE the thin tip
I tried writing with it & it was so easy!
I want all the colors now!
I like it so much better than the more expensive I bought

Highlight of my day was a super cute package I got my from
my friend Ivy so here's my LO
I will add the photo I took of the goodies she sent on the top
and the bottom is the cute card she made :)

Oh I was craving some mint brownies so I made a batch
I really only make anything "minty" around this time of the year
maybe that can be my "holiday tradition" treat :)

Oh boy! Wednesday I addressed what felt like a gabajillion
holiday cards & I feel a lil guilty this year
because I did NOT make all my holiday cards :(
Anyone else feel this way when they send cards out?
So my LO pretty much talks about that :)
I used the pocket that Jenny made that was in the DD kit
she sent :) I love those KI keepsake holders!

Here's the LO from Day 10

So, last Saturday I was invited by my friend Krista
who was invited by her friend Mini
who has a yearly tradition of making "Pasteles" every year
Pasteles is like puerto rican version of tamales
it's made with bananas & plantains
I've never tasted pasteles before BUT I LOVE tamales
so when I agreed to come to "pasteles making day"
I had no idea what to expect.....
when we got to mini's house this is the 1st sight we see
YES, that is a bathtub FILLED with bananas & plantains
(it helps to peel them when they are kept in warm water)
We we're the reliever of the 1st group to peel the bananas
which is harder than you think when they aren't ripe :)
This is ALL the people that attended this Pasteles Holiday tradition
Mini's family & friends we're so FUN to be around
6 hours later.......
Over 500 pasteles we're split amongst everyone
and they are so DELICIOUS!!!!
I'm so glad I got to experience & know all the hard work
that goes in to making these delicious treats!

Sorry I'm skipping a day
day 10 was SO much fun & I have lots of pics to choose from
I was hoping to get it printed today before I show you guys the LO
So here is Day 11 for now
This Sunday I went with my friend Krista to see her friend Tim
perform Holiday songs with the Chicago Gay Mens Chorus
I'm not really sure what I was expecting BUT I was blown away
with how amazing they were
the show was so cute & fun & they sounded AMAZING
there's about 150 members & the day that we attended 3/4 of them sang
the church we went to was FILLED with over 300 people
It was a great experience & if you live locally you should check out their show
the spring theme is That 80's show FUN!
So here's the Layout I created... its a 2pager guys lol
The middle part has all the songs they sang (act 1 & act 2) and it flips
to this page.....

The holidays are around the corner and maybe you need a present
for your friends/co-workers or kids class?
I made these treats as presents for my co-workers last year
because i was looking for something in expensive to give
but also from the heart. I usually baked them treats
but I didn't want to make cake pops again like I usually do.
I had such great reviews and even emails asking for the recipe
so I thought I'd share them with you guys :)
NOW warning in advance this is not a "calorie friendly" treat
BUT if you love mint brownies like i do then it's definitely worth it :)
I should've written down the recipe but really it was an experiment
at the time BUT I did take pics with my phone :)
So, I'm going to tell you guys the steps by memory (eeps!)
First you'll need a brownie mix
and you can use any mix you want but I use this or this a LOT
and you'll also need 1 bag of Andes Creme de menthe baking chips
Mix your brownie as directed and add 2 cups of the mints
and then you'll need mint oreos or some candy cane joe joes
you'll also need some canning jars I used the small jelly ones
crush the oreos and place a couple spoon fulls at the bottom of the jar
add the brownie mix about 1/2 way in the jar
do not put more because you want space left on top
and bake as directed on the box
but check your jar and add/deduct a few minutes
if your batter is still sticking if you poke it
I just put the jars on a baking sheet and added water on the sheet
when you're finished it should look like this deliciousness
Once it cools down a little bit (you might get some deflation & that's OK)
You'll need some marshmallow fluff
just add a spoon full to cover the top
add more crushed oreos
drizzle some hot fudge
Then add some crushed candy canes (for color)but you don't have to if you don't want to
& more andes mint baking chips
and it should look like this
and seal the yummy goodness
I decorated my jar a little bit
with some Making memories Fa la la paper & tape
I also added a little ribbon with a tag saying you can eat this alone
or like me, serve it with ice cream
and if you serve this with ice cream you can probably get a couple servings :)
I want to say this treat cost me all together about $2.50 or less per jar
and all my friends & co workers really loved it!
